Men do play more videogames than women, and we arent talking about Bingo or Candy Crush but simulated realities and fantasies where these guys are essentially living in a whole other character and world. Being immersed in that more than in moderation is unhealthy and I can see how someone can grow to lose touch with actual reality after playing for extended time, especially young men who are still developing social skills and missing out on real interaction because theyd rather play videogames all day.
I read an article about this phenomenon and it was called "The Demise of Guys" by a psychologist studying this. It is about young men's growing desire for stimulation through afrtificial realities and fantasies through porn and videogames, and how it's shaping new generations of socially inept youngins with unrealistic expectations and warped perceptions of social interaction, and less motivation for jobs and meaningful relationships with real human beings.
I agree, but I still think these guys are socially inept to start, hence the draw to video games and other simulated fantasy. I do not think video games are the cause.

No they may not be but theyre a major contributing factor. The behavior only worsens any already existing anxieties, and reinforces the individual's justifications for doing absolutely nothing in life, instead of seeing the truth that being sucked in a false reality destroys incentive to participate in the actual one.
I played A LOT of hockey in my youth. I loved video games, but street hockey and my actual competitive hockey always came first. And yeah, if I did play too much, they'd boot me out the house.
Same here. Except it was football, baseball, and basketball. Now, I love video games, always will. But I love playing sports with others despite the injuries.
"Social awkwardness" is a common scapegoat for problems in today's dating world. The truth is, it doesn't matter whether a guy is socially awkward. I used to be socially awkward and I did well with women compared to today, when I'm more socially adept. The difference is that today I'm worse looking and less accomplished than my peers. "Social skills" are overrated. Ever noticed how good looking guys are rated as more confident, intelligent and funny?

I can agree with this, that it makes it worse as it is such an good escape, but I stand by it that most of the people that are socially awkward playing video games, were so to start.
Lol do you think I'm some sort of shut in who plays video games all day?
Babe, all I did was call you out for being wrong. None of the "fanboy" nonsense you ranted about came out of my mouth. You made up arguments and attributed them to me.
More intellectual dishonesty, but not surprising.
Meh, I guess sugarlumps...but thats all your raging and bellyaching is, really, once you boil it down..youre one of those very literal people who seems to miss the forest for the trees...or at least you entirely missed the point of my original post and flew off the handle into some tirade about an anti gaming agenda that you seem to think im conspiring to push against you...thats why i said youre wound way too tight...if you noticed, i never even disagree with your point...i just found your apoplectic and lecherous retorts funny...thats all...all i said was that it figures that someone would bring up the hardcore gamers vs. Casual gamers argument whenever video gamer studies are posted..and you did...experience tells me thats how it always goes in these conversations...all of this other babbling youve done about some unnecessary (to me at least) youtube analysis, or candycrush, and this game and that game not being real games etc, was just a rehash of what i already knew...
you honestly think i havent seen studies like this before? NEWSFLASH: They ALWAYS exclude hardcore female gamers...its the only way to make the video game market seem like it needs to cater more to female gamers. Its done to set the stage for the inevitable companion articles to those studies that will eventually ask "If 52% of Gamers are Female, Why Arent there More Female CEO's of Game Development Companies?"
And you will see a shift from a mostly male dominated industry to a much more gender normed representation of women at the helm.

Your rambling is difficult to follow. Push your nonsense and fallacy elsewhere.
For real though, if we can blame video games for young men not making women happy, can we also blame social media for creating a sense of entitlement among women that they are deserving of a man who has it all?
Whoa....not saying all gamers are socially awkward. What I am saying is that when a kid locks himself in a room, whether to play games, or to get online, that he will not develop the basic skills to learn to deal with people. Is gaming getting the bad rap? I don't think so, because they know the power their games have over adolescents.
Gaming doesn't care if you can't interact with people, it doesn't care if you can't toss a ball, it could care less if you are obese, or have an eating disorder. You are rewarded the more you play, and naturally the more you play, the better you get. It's very rewarding, and reinforces a kid's desire to keep playing. But it's not real, and when you are obsessed with fantasy, your interpretation of reality is skewered.
