With so many people living paycheck to paycheck, on meds and just downright depressed its no wonder we see road rage incidents often. Is the common person ready to snap? Sure seems everyone is more tense than 10, 20 years ago.
Combine that with the hours people are working and the "suck it up" attitude from some, I wouldn't be too surprised of all these outbursts.
Good solid points. More hours and same or less pay with idiot bosses. You should see the drones during rushhour. Its only a matter of time for some IMO.
It wouldnt surprise me to find out that the answer is yes. We are under so much stress from every different angle, and as bent pointed out we are told to get over it from older "wiser" generations. Luckily I think millenials are realizing this, having observed the 2008 crash, and seeing that everything is just a twisted "game" and looking for alternative ways in life. Hence we have tiny houses and such.
Either blow-ups, or other forms of snapping as well.
I used to think all these abandoned vehicles alongside the road were just "broken down".
But now I think from time-to-time that they were simply people that said "---k it" and wandered off to anonymityville.
In a way, that could be a good thing.
People spontaneously dumping large, material possessions into the drink.
On the other hand, that's going to be a lot of solid waste lying around.
I think road rage is caused by idiot drivers. LIke yesterday, I'm driving along, someone in the lane left of me has the person in front of her slow down abruptly. So this moron swerves in MY lane, so I have to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting her.
I used to love driving but not anymore. I live in WA state and I think many drivers are stoked on marijuana. Really.
As a guy who's foolishly still driving a truck to earn some scraps, I see the worst of the worst every day.
Not to mention the hours I mentioned some of us work.
11-14 hours a day is just too risky, but unfortunately, there's not enough qualified people to do this work and those that are just throwing in the towel and going into hiding.
Despite what some people say about the driverless tech coming about, I couldn't care any less if it caused myself and others to be out of work.
I could always fix bicycle inner-tubes on the side all day.
Working in customer service, I can tell you I deal with lots of angry people. Even when trying to help them, they have gone over the edge and feel the need to scream/vent/verbally attack, sometimes to the point of not even letting me speak so I can clear up whatever issue they are having. It can get scary, knowing there are people out there with so much rage inside them.
Then: Father has breakfast with family and heads to work. Mother brings Tommy to school. Mother run some errands. Mother pays the bills. Mother waves to neighbor. Mother makes sure garden looks beautiful. Mother gets a call that Tommy got a bad grade. Mother picks up Tommy from school. Mother scolds Tommy. Father returns home from work around dinner time to his moderately sized house. Tommy is in his room. Fathers asks Mother why Tommy is not playing with his friends. Mother says he got a bad grade and needs to study more.
Now: Father goes to work. Mother goes to work. Bus comes to pick up Tommy. Tommy isn't at the bus stop. Idiot in front of Mother crashes into guard rail. Mother is stuck in traffic. Father arrives at work. Father is buried in paper work. Father's boss informs him that Jim has been let-go. Boss hands Father Jim's work. Boss tells Father that he does Jim's job now. Father asks about additional compensation. Boss tells Father it is not in the budget. Mother arrives to work late. Mother explains accident to Manager. Manager swears at Mother in front of customers. Tommy is with his friends. Tommy smokes a cigarette. Tommy is so cool. Old Man walks by. Tommy pushes him to the ground because it's funny. Friends laugh. Tommy spits on Old Man. Teacher calls Mother because Tommy has bad grades and is absent a lot. Mother doesn't have time to answer. After work Mother listens to voicemail about Tommy. Mother drives to school. Mother yells at teacher for giving Tommy a bad grade. Mother threatens to end Teacher's ****ing life. It is now dinner time. Mother eats alone. Tommy is dead. Father is still at work. The end.

Responsible adults are responsible adults because they understand how to handle stress and live like productive human beings.
Children lash out and cannot handle stress and snap.
When my mother and father were 30 years old, they had three children under six, my father held down a full time job AND was a graduate student.
I can't think of many things more stressful.
