Have you ever noticed lately people getting in your face through media and without you asking they just say "I'm gay" or "I'm vegan" or "I ride my bicycle to work" or "I got solar panels"? Why do they think we care or want to know? What should we do in response? Pat them on the head and say "I'm so proud of you"!
I saw an advertisement on craigslist that said "You can't rent the room unless you are vegan. We are a cruelty free house and you can't have meat in here".
I love this possibility to create cruelty free neighbourhoods!
I learnt it is good to tell at beginning so either one is not wasting time. Because sometimes people who represent opposite sides are not making good company for each other. Some people do have problems to talk with people who have different values. It happends at both sides. Saves time to tell.
I was watching videos on youtube on living in Japan. The topic had to do something with Japan and all the sudden the person doing the video feels the need to slip in that she supports gays and that she's a vegan. Also, if you listen to AM 640 KFI in California you will hear people saying they are gay and talking about being vegan all the time. On saturday a guy named Neil Saavedra is always talking about vegan food on his show and it's not a show about that. I've seen this behavior on TV news and in magazines too.
I was just thinking, why don't you call Neil Saavedra on his Sunday morning show and ask him this question ?
I'd love to hear him answer this question in his other persona that he does on that show.
I only know one or two people like this. I'm sure at times I have annoyed people with my alternative opinions, lifestyle choices, etc., so I try to be tolerant when others do it to me.

I don't think that's odd. They are letting people know up front that they don't tolerate animal products in their house. It's fair to say that before a meat eater wastes time checking out a place.
I work with a Jain who doesn't enter restaurants where meat is served, and he keeps a small fridge in his office to keep his food separate.
