Are you an explainer? I gladly explain something if asked, but I notice some people go into a thread and explain a post made by someone else. My brother is an explainer. If he and I are talking and I bring up a subject, he will begin explaining it to me. So far, he has never explained anything to me that I didn't already know. Maybe sometime it will happen. There is at least one woman in C-D who often explains posts made by someone else. She also explains rhetorical questions and perhaps doesn't realize that's what they are. There are others.
Another example: There's a discussion in a thread about dropping the little kid nickname when the person reaches adulthood. I posted that my son was called Donnie when he was growing up and someone told me I should stop calling him that name and call him Don. I asked him which he preferred and he said Donnie is all right. Someone came into that thread and explained to me, "family names are different from professional names." What? Does anyone not already know that? But if an explainer comes on the scene, they need to explain something, I suppose.
I see similar circumstances often on C-D. Perhaps the world is made up of explainers and non-explainers. Oh well, I realize it isn't all that important. It's just a small aggravation of sorts.
Actually, I prefer to be called a 'splainer" since I work around so many Spanish speaking people !
Now you've got some splaining to do why you think that !

Then I'll 'splain I didn't really think you were. I just made it up. I think those who recognize themselves as explainers would not post a response.
I might be. I haven't ever noticed anyone speaking or posting that way so it would seem normal to me. Maybe it's like that old joke about the slutty friend. Everyone has one and if you don't know who it is you're it. I do have a slutty friend so I'm off the hook on that one.
