As everyone knows there is a lot of porn on the internet, and a lot of it is actually home made. Some people even post their naked pictures with no apparent profit motive at all. Now being an older traditional guy, the normal of society used to be that one of the last things most people would want is naked pictures of themselves on the internet for all to see. But in spite of that, there are a lot of naked people on the internet. I can't understand what people are thinking that actually want people from all over the world to see themselves completely naked. Can someone explain this to me? I don't get it.

Exhibitionists, with the added thrill of random people around the world seeing them naked.

So is exhibitionism a way for a non-celebrity to get the attention they can't get otherwise from being a movie star or athlete. Personally, I don't even get the appeal of having attention lavished on me from all kinds of strangers. What is the appeal?

No, it's a different thing from celebrity type attention. It's more like a personal thrill of shocking or scaring someone with your nudity in a flash. They get a bigger thrill of the person they're flashing looks their way and continues to watch or appears excited about what they see. Even looks of outrage and calls for the police are a thrill for these types because the potential of getting caught adds to the excitement for them. The above is for those exhibitionist who flash themselves out in public with sexual intentions. Exhibitionist don't get the same thrill at a nudist resort or nude beach because there isn't the shocking nature of the disrobing.

Posting photos online is different from the traditional exhibitionist. You're not getting the "in your face" reaction by merely posting a photo or video online. There's a different form of condition involved and it varies from person to person. For some, it's them looking for validation of their own attractiveness. Such sites have a comments and ratings attached to a group of photos/videos. These positive comments and ratings boost their self confidence and feelings of sexuality, mainly in women. Some exhibitionist make videos of their escapades and post them online to share like trophies where they can go back and relive those moments.

This isn't an American thing brought on by an aversion to public nudity as examples of such videos have come from many other countries including some with a more lax attitude towards the nude body. It's the sudden exposure in an uncommon situation and seeing their look of shock that excites them.

I guess I'll just chock it up to one of those things I'll never understand. EG: Women who get excited about new food or going to a new restaurant.

Its funny how different human behavior can be, yet still considered and is normal. But then its also sad when so many label what is really pretty normal behavior "sick" or "evil", when it isn't at all.

I think its also interesting when you notice how much of human behavior is motivated by just the pure need for the approval of other people.

I have nothing against nudity and don't get it either.

I guess sometimes this is the case:

a) they are paid for being in front of the camera
b) they don't know they are filmed
c) they are high and don't care
d) they are very young and want attention even if it is in a bad way

But I do not know why a regular person with common sense would put their nudes or films online. I have no idea how they can get a thrill out of it.

I think this particular point is a key aspect of the "naked" industry.

A lot of it is profit driven. For some there's the antisocial thrill of being a member of a special group and performing forbidden acts. Others are into body-displaying narcissism (phallic exhibitionist behavior is considered a normal developmental phase in some circles). Some may be hoping to get laid.

Given how popular selfies are, I'd be surprised if naked selfies weren't popular too.
