I find it interesting that whenever something good happens to someone, they tend to believe they themselves made it happen through hard work and such. But whenever anything bad happens, people shy away from taking responsibility and say "it was out of their hands". Surely this can't be the case for all things. Some people just get lucky when something good happens to them, and it really wasn't due to "hard work" (although plenty people will lie and claim it was hard work). And when bad things happen, sometimes it WAS the persons fault, but it hurts them too much to admit. Interesting games we play with ourselves. I think this is called "self preservation". We tell ourselves things that may not necessarily be true in order to protect ourselves from harm or simply to boost our egos.
