There are 3 groups of society in my opinion, the 1st group in my opinion who will be blunt and open as about the truth and would take it back if you also dished it back in the same manner.

The 2nd group would be those who could handle and receive the truth if it was said in a tactful/subtle way .

The 3rd group is the one I'm asking the question about, why ?

What reason behind this?

And who is determining what "truth" is? What is they don't find your "truth" that you're dishing out to actually be truth?

Often it depends on who's dishing out the "truth", because hypocrisy can be distracting.

For example, if you were slightly overweight, and clearly needed to lose a few pounds for health reasons. Would it be more helpful if the truth, the fact that you need to lose weight, came from a fitness instructor with a body like a Greek God, or a walking tub of lard who has a physique that looks like it's been dragged off a busy highway?

I'd say that you're more likely to accept the truth from the former, rather than the latter.

But you didn't define the 3rd group.

A wise mentor of mine once told me:

"Dumb people talk about things,
Average people talk about people,
Intelligent people talk about ideas."

I think I'm your third group. Tell me what you think, I'll give you my opinion about what I think. As long as the liquor flows and I have a designated driver I'll discuss it until the end of time (unless I keel over, driver please deliver my body to my residence).

But SRSLY, I sometimes wonder what is the use of discussing if you don't argue your true beliefs, come armed with knowledge, and never back down unless new knowledge proves you wrong. And if wrong, update your knowledge and proceed accordingly.

I'm not so tight axx as to cling to my beliefs if you show me where I am mistaken.
