The stigma attached to mental health issues was greater in the past (still is an issue), and less accepted in women than men, and this contributed to a lower incidence of illness being addressed, diagnosed, or reported. That's all.

OP...dunno.

Life is very complex nowadays for both men and women.

I would say I'd be glad to help these stressed out gals to unwind.

Is this what we're going to do now? Post videos of men and women making fools of themselves, to try to "prove" which gender exhibits more mental illness? What kind of a thread is this?

I think the woman in the video has a mental condition called Bi-polar and her condition is much worse for not taking her medicine.

Stepford Wives anyone?
Ha! I was watching an episode of Freaks and Geeks the other day...Lindsay went bananas on the guys for being screw-ups, and Daniel said something about her being on her period. She marched right back up to him and was like, "Yes, Daniel. I'm on my period. You figured it out!!"

You'd have to see it, but it was hilarious. And so on point.

I'm pretttty sure we could find some pretty unflattering and "crazy" videos of both men and women if we searched Youtube for just a few moments.

How about some facts instead of videos of people acting crazy?

"Overall rates of psychiatric disorder are almost identical for men and women but striking gender differences are found in the patterns of mental illness."

They then go on to list some types that are more prevalent in women, and some that are more prevalent in men.

Interesting to me is the fact that doctors are more likely to diagnose women as having a mental disorder than they are to diagnose men as having a mental disorder, even when they present with identical symptoms:

"Gender bias occurs in the treatment of psychological disorders. Doctors are more likely to diagnose depression in women compared with men, even when they have similar scores on standardized measures of depression or present with identical symptoms."

Also, risk factors for mental disorders that are suffered most often by women are (not surprisingly) exacerbated by gender-specific risk factors that are not experienced by men:

"Gender specific risk factors for common mental disorders that disproportionately affect women include gender based violence, socioeconomic disadvantage, low income and income inequality, low or subordinate social status and rank and unremitting responsibility for the care of others."

All in all an interesting read if you care to learn something rather than just promote the stereotype that women are just a bunch of crazy *******.

Interesting topic. In my life, I have dated numerous women that were bat$#%# crazy. Several of these ended up stalking me after we broke up. Note that I know men do the same thing to women as well, so it's not just women that do this.

However, I have also been in the presence of women in public who have literally "lost it" by starting to cry, scream, etc. for no apparent reason. On one occasion, it was a woman in the lunchroom at my local high school years ago, and another time I was at a restaurant and a woman at a nearby table did something similar (no, I didn't know either of these women). In both cases, these women had to be escorted out. That being said, I don't know what "set them off", but, they obviously couldn't control their emotions.

Note that I'm not grouping these women with the various crazy/insane homeless & mentally ill panhandlers/junkies I see on a regular basis in the downtown area of the city where I live/work. Those people talk to themselves, scream, threaten random people, preach, etc. - and they're typically male. But, that's an entirely separate issue...

Having to be on strict diets is probably stressing them out so much that they're going nuts
