This is regarding rejection.

Another person’s actions do not upset you.

What upsets you is that you over estimated your role in that person’s life.

What causes that to happen?

You see people or situations as you want them to be instead of who/what they really are. People tell you who they are or what they want, listen.

We forget that others, just like ourselves, must put themselves first. It's how we all survive. We are inately selfish. Once we accept that about everyone, we can maturely begin to then also make sure we give as much as we take.
Otherwise, we have a classic case of narcissism, forgetting that others value of self does not come in 2nd place to who we want or wish them to be, as that would be objectifying them, stripping them of their autonomy.
More details would be helpful though.....this is a blanket answer to an extremely vague question.
