It is very odd- for any age group.

I have never asked to take leftovers home from a dinner party- it wouldn't even occur to me.

At Pot Lucks the hostess has asked that guests take leftovers home, but for the guest to bring her own containers and do this at a regular dinner party, it is strange.

Do you know much about her personal life? Is she exceedingly poor or badly in debt?

She could have been more tactful by not asking for seconds and leaving them uneaten, but by saying, "That was delicious! Would you mind if I took some leftovers home? I just happen to have some containers in my car."

Any gracious host would be more than happy to oblige. It would still be a bit of a cheap move, but at least within the bounds of decent social practice.

May we have recipes, please?
He posted it a page back. Only time he responded to the entire thread, I believe.

Buffet restaurants do this.

Maybe she heard you were a great cook and came prepared to take some home to savor for her next meal.

Could have been worse - at least she didn't bring her family along to have some, too.

It is very common at Asian restaurants with buffets. If you leave uneaten food on your plate they charge extra for it. I absolutely refuse to go to these places.

I have never heard of it but I like that idea. Keeps douches away who put too much on their plates ... several times .... and then don't eat it. I wonder what the psychology is behind that - a power trip?
