Several years ago I took an MBSR (Mindfulness based stress reduction) course. MBSR practice includes several types of activities: a full body scan, mindful yoga, mindful walking and sitting meditation. The sitting meditation it's not about clearing the mind of all thoughts as much as accepting one's thoughts as just a thought and reacting to one's self with loving kindness. Often times it helps to begin this practice by focusing on one particular sense like sounds.
Admittedly I don't do it for a long period of time daily. I try to practice when I'm doing simple things like walking out to get the mail, sitting outside, etc.
I've looked at this site. It's very much like the course I took. Personally I liked having an instructor.
