You are not understanding what I was trying to say, and that's fine, my grammar did make it easily misinterpreted (I read it several times like "did I say that right?")
The porn companies create and market porn to men, because they know that is an audience that is eager to buy it.
They do not waste as much in terms of resources, marketing it to women, because they know that women who like porn, are a smaller demographic.
(I am talking your typical video porn here.)
It's not that women don't like it BECAUSE the companies haven't made it in a pink box with a complimentary nail polish and a ribbon for us. It's not that if they tried harder they could MAKE women like it. We just don't. So why would they bother? Does that make any sense now? They aren't missing out on us. We don't want the product no matter if there's a picture of a guy on the front or not.
Now you create a show with a sizzling romance plot and good production values and believable acting, throw in some hot accents and kilts, and there's your market for the ladies.
THAT is what more women like. Just watching people bang, sorry, at best it bores me. (And again yes I know some women enjoy porn. But I think that despite there being some who do, and some who might if they tried...there are plenty of us who give it a shot and it's just not that interesting to us. I don't think that women are as visually stimulated like that, as men are.)
Dude. Are you serious right now asking this here? Did you forget that this forum is supposed to be PG-13ish? Did you forget that we have moderators? Did you think you were somewhere else?
About as far as I'll go in even trying to kinda answer this is...most of it? The bouncey bouncey pokey pokey, it's boring as hell? Besides which, I know lots of women who don't have any interest in sex with another person unless they FEEL some emotional connection there. I personally don't have any interest in sex with another person if we don't have an exciting conversation and connect intellectually. None of that is possible with porn. At least with something like Outlander, or a story in a book, you can get into the thoughts and feels of those involved a bit. It's like they are alive, people, not just machine parts moving back and forth spouting off the occasional pre-programmed line and finishing on command like someone pushed a button.
Does any of that make any sense? I hope?

One time I went to see a porn flick (one of the old classics, like Deep Throat) with my college housemate, (I'm female, he's male) just to say we'd gone to one once. This was maybe in 1981. At first we thought it was stupidly funny, then we thought it was boring. We left after the first 15 minutes.
On the other hand, I found Outlander to be the TV equivalent of a bodice-ripper "romance" novel, and eventually got bored with that, too. But give me an intense drama with a sexual tension component, THAT women might find stimulating. And somehow, pornographic stories, where one reads and imagines, are much more exciting than seeing people doing the bouncey bouncey pokey pokey on screen.
But you know, it's kind of like being all excited about bicycles when you were a kid in the suburbs? Once you got a driver's license, you forgot about who had which ten speed. I think that women think that men who are obsessed with porn are just kind of pathetic, sort of like men who are living in their mom's basement.

However, I would argue that women love their own version of porn: romance novels. Yes ladies, I have seen what you read. Those compact novels with the shirtless muscle-bound man on the cover tell me more than enough about your interests. You are not saints!
Well I guess one movie off the top of my head that I saw recently that could be considered porn or erotica for women would be Circumstance (2011). It probably would be targeted at a lesbian audience, but that is one maybe women would like more to their taste compared to men I am guessing.

Oh okay. But if women don't enjoy porn cause it's not marketed to them, aren't the porn movie makers only making money off of half their audience gender-wise then? Wouldn't they be more successful if they made movies that were marketed to female viewers as well? It was said that women prefer books more but would they prefer visual movies, if they were tailored and marketed to them?
I guess, but if you visit websites to watch foreign films like I do, the porn advertisements they show before the movie are clearly male marketed. Perhaps men like to go to those sites to watch foreign films more than women on those sites or something, to advertise to more?
There are some women who do like porn, and there are some men who don't like porn either. I don't like porn. I like pictures of beautiful women, often scantily clad or even nude, but actual porn with guys in it? Seems kind of gay to me.
I'm not particularly a fan of Harlequin romance novels either, but I did read the Outlander books. I thought they weren't bad. Not the best reads ever, and didn't turn me on especially, but they weren't bad. I wanted to give the show a shot, but when my free trail of the channel it's on ran out, I was like, "No, this totally is not worth paying for." Game of Thrones (which will compel me to pay for HBO on its own) it is NOT.
Thing is, to make "porn videos" that would actually appeal to me, the production value, writing, and acting would have to be so, so much better than what any porn producing company on this earth is going to put into it. There just isn't any point. Might as well make a big Hollywood movie with some sexual tension and try to rake in some real profit, to justify the cost.
And yes there is porn that is made for women and marketed as being for women, but it is a niche thing.
And of course there are books, I guess maybe the closest to something that I find even sexually interesting, was Jacqueline Carey's nine book series that begins with "Kushiel's Dart." But it's more of a big adventure saga with some sporadic (but rather extreme) sexual content.
Honestly OP, I don't see a problem with the way things are. I think these companies are getting the most for their marketing and production buck by making it more "for guys" since that's where the demand is at.
Another thought I just had...don't know if this is interesting to anyone (OP?) or not... My own lifestyle has afforded me the opportunity to be physically present but not involved when other people were doing pretty hot sexual things. While I would not say I got turned on enough to want any sort of uh...relief...I did enjoy that. There was an energy to the room, it just felt sort of charged and happy and good. And no impulse on my part to make jokes or feel snarky about it. Now if you'd taken that very same activity, same participants, same everything (and I've cause to know with at least one particular individual I've seen in person and on video) and you had it on a screen instead... Now I don't care. I'm bored, it's not even interesting. I'd rather be doing practically anything else.
The best analogy I can think of for this, is if anyone here is into live music? Go to concerts, enjoy them? I sure have. And I can tell you that the same concert I was there in person for, if I think about it or imagine moments in my memory, I can get goosebumps, it was such a powerful experience. Now do I want to watch a video on Youtube of the show and figure that is just as good as having been there? LOL--no. Of course not.
When it comes to sex, I want the experience. I want to feel something. Watching it on a screen usually doesn't give me that.
