Why does saying something dumb make people more trigger happy than let's say a crime happening?.

I'm seeing that too. It's unsettling to me. Those tend to be the 'trigger happy' types too. I also suspect that it is not that they 'can't' see the tree and more like they don't care to (They get more of a reward for just "pulling the trigger")

But back to your topic - some people are ignorant about such universally accepted basics that they can only trigger a head shake and rolling eyes. It's almost embarrassing to believe that such people actually exist, would find and register to Internet forums to ask such dumb questions, but have not a miniscule of common sense to just search for the answers alone.
There are seemingly "legit" questions that people on forums are happy to discuss, and there are questions that make everyone else stop and think: it is real? Is that a troll? How come that a person couldn't know that?
It's even worse when such persons come here and instead of asking makes just a bold statement and insist that's the truth...

While ignorance is defined as a lack of knowledge, education or understanding - motivated ignorance is when others choose not to educate themselves out of fear.
Motivated ignorance can be simply defined as when people don't want to know the facts.
A self-deception occurs when individuals believe false things with complete conviction.
Often, it is difficult to judge whether somebody is willfully ignorant or truly deluded, though.

I've often said that using declarative sentences doesn't make a fact. lol


You know, for me, personally...I don't like being told what to think. I've always been that way, since I was a little girl. Now...I can be persuaded, I can be instructed, I can be cajoled. But being bullied into thinking like someone else? PFFFTTT. That's no way to learn, and I'm an reasonably intelligent adult...implying that something is wrong with ME because I don't fall for bullying tactics? I roll my eyes.


There's a saying. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. It all works better if one appeal's to another's intelligence. Doesn't work so well when one implies the other is ignorant and "soft headed" to get a point across.
