"When you come to a fork in the road, you are traveling on the wrong road."

The true path has no fork, you already know which path to take. I am not sure if this can be attributed to Buddha or Confucius because I was reading them both at the same time, but I am grateful that I stumbled across both books of their teachings in a rubbish bin at work when I was about 17-18 years old.

The pain of holding on is worse than the pain of letting go.

If you live like no one else (frugality, delayed gratification, save), later you can live like no one else (financial freedom, early retirement).

"Life is not fair", I learned that lesson at the age of 5 when my mother died of malaria.

So many people failed at this. Just the other day, I was reading about a janitor who died a millionaire. He had $8M. If a janitor can do it anyone can. But they rather spend that money. I am 48 years old, and by the time I retire, I should be very comfortable in my retirement.

My friend's uncle came to this country with nothing but the clothes on his back, a refugee. Spent his earlier life as a social worker, helping other refugees. When I met him in 1993, he had already acquired quite a decent number of rental properties. He quit his job and was managing his properties as a full-time landlord. I wasn't sure if every single of his properties were paid off or not. His nephew, my friend said that out of his ethnic community he is consider the most financially successful man in the Sacramento area. Another friend, who was a web developer by trade at the age of 52 years old has a total of 42 rental properties. All paid, no debt. And he too manages all his properties.

To the believer, God intervenes at the last minute, or just in time.
God has intervened for me so much so that it is almost possible to take Him for granted.
When He sustains His response, I trust that he has my best interests at heart, and it is true every time.
A man using God for his own means does not have the relationship of trust that must exist. Who is serving whom?

A television interviewer (60 minutes?) asked an Italian race car driver what does he do when he goes into a skid. He said when he goes into a skid he always keeps his eyes where he wants to be and not where he is at the moment.
