They said they are not tolerant of childish behavior and they lose their temper...lack of patience is not the same as having temper issues.

I get impatient with people that are not pratical. I see so many parents that don't have any patience with their kids. Why do these people have kids?

I think things have changed radically.

Some kids are so badly behaved it grinds my gears too.

What gets me about children of today, is how they always expect someone else to entertain them. They seem to have so little imagination or intiative, I do not know if this is from public schooling, but something is very wrong. kids do not even play like they used to.
A lot of that appearance of "lack of imagination" is from all the electronic gadgets and games children have now. The other day I saw some boys out in the streeet playing football and thought to myself "just like the old days" and smiled. It's a shame that both boys and girls aren't as free to engage in productive outdoor activities as they once were. So I guess you have lots of indoor things like video games to keep them safe, but unimaginative.

However, I wonder what kinds of skill these games may be developing. Probably some good ones which i never developed because in my day this stuff wasn't around.

Moderator don't bust me for getting off topic. I'll go on record as saying I am a father to a teen daughter and I do love children of all ages. They are the future. So they act up. You all see many adults act up, how can you expecct children and esp. toddlers and babies to do any better? Sheesh, people are strange. Do the math.

We can agree on this...why do people have kids who are not equipped to have them?? One of the great wonders...

You aren't off topic at all...Kids are supposed to be silly and make mistakes...that's why they are kids and have parents...the problem arises when the parents are less mature then the kids!

That's why I don't understand all the animosity regarding people who dislike children. If they don't like them, then not having them is a responsible and sensible choice.

Most of the responses on this thread as it evolves really back up my earlier stance and my earlier post that whether or not people who don't like kids are, in fact, "nice," they're typically not people who strike me as particularly patient, particularly tolerant, or particularly flexible. Whether or not they're "nice" is really just a matter of opinion, but it seems to me to be fairly likely that the above characteristics are fairly lacking in a lot of people who profess to dislike children. That's not inherently good or bad, it is what it is.
