I am more reserved in person. I learned the hard way not to voice opinions so much in a public setting where people have physical access to me.

I do wonder how many responses here are being honest...

Same as Basilide. There is a freedom in anonymity, like on forums. Like email friends who don't know your full name or address.

I'm more likely to let it all hang out in forums or online when I know it won't come knocking on my front door.

Worse comes to worse you can always quit the forum or get a new username. In real life you can't do that.

But I'm the same person on forum or in RL. Just more free to express myself and be open and honest online. You can't do that in RL without taking the chance of hurting yourself, friends or family.

Yup. I am me in real life. Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent.

I'm the same IRL as I am here. Don't argue. Pretty much do my own thing.

Well, I express my opinions, and most of them aren't deleted. There are many shades of me on here.

For the most part, yes. I'm much less politically vocal and "in your face" in real life. I have a "Don't blame me; I voted for Hillary" T-shirt, but I haven't had the courage to wear it yet. Even here in liberal Los Angeles, I'm afraid of provoking some moron who has an axe to grind. I'd just really prefer not to get shot, thanks! (However, I was opinionated enough at work that everyone was asking me, "Are you okay?" the day after the election! My answer: "No, not really.")

I am much more reserved in public about anything political. That is mostly because virtually everyone I know here in this state has the opposite political view, and I don't want to hear their beliefs because I might not like them anymore.

Otherwise, I am about the same in real life, if I can find anyone who wants to discuss the interesting topics we discuss on the C-D.

I am about the same on this forum as in real life.

I am so awkward and quiet IRL compared to online. It's like, I get too overwhelmed with thoughts (especially when someone talks to me out of nowhere) and keep stumbling over my words trying to say the right thing, whereas communicating in text lets me structure my thoughts in a logical and understandable way because I have a bit of time before I hit "submit"/"send"/"post".
