Unfortunately I guess the time has finally come for me to get a replacement knee. Three scope surgeries have not helped me and things are getting worse. Anyone have any recommendations for a cutter around Port Charlotte? I really do not want to travel to Sarasota or Tampa so any input will be appreciated. Thanks.

I would suggest traveling to Sarasota for your medical treatment. I've had friends, relatives and my own experiences treated at various places in both Charlotte and Sarasota counties. My experience is that all the doctors in Sarasota far exceeded the medical treatment in Charlotte. I know this is painting with a broad brush but I would never have anything surgical done in Charlotte county. Just my opinion...

My dad was treated in Port Charlotte and for a heart issue and they gave him some pills and sent him home. He had a heart attack the next day and went to Sarasota. They immediately evaluated him he got a defibrillator out in and he had a heart transplant at Tampa General.

My mom's boyfriend was treated in Port Charlotte because he wasn't felling well, again they said it was just something minor. He went to Sarasota Hospital a few days later very sick. They kept him in the hospital and said he had liver cancer. He stayed there until he died.

My mother in law is in Peace River Medical Hospital in Port Charlotte and has been in and out of the hospital for the last two years with Crohns Disease. She is progressively getting worse. She's been up at the hospital this time for about 6 months. Things aren't looking good. I can't talk my father-in-law into going up to Sarasota.

I live in North Port and am much closer to Port Charlotte than anything in Sarasota (other than the new emergency room). When my kids got sick and I have to bring them somewhere, I would, without hesitation bring them to Venice or Sarasota Hospital.

In conclusion I would never ever get any type of medical treatment in PC. That's probably not the answer you want but it's the honest, straight truth.

Sorry to hear about the problems your family has suffered.

I was in Peace River for 5 days in May. I had no choice, since I was taken there in an ambulance. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone, although the nurses were very nice.
