I fished the east side keys today, between Cormorant Key and Redfish Key, inside the bar. Caught a juvi snook, juvi mangrove snapper, channel cat, sail cat and a very nice bonnet head shark, that was a fun fight.
Saw a nice red go by me but didn't get any to bite.

Been to long since I've been out. Might have to go again on Monday.

Went out again today, from 10-3. Worked the ears side keys again around Redfish Key. Cats, cats, cats. You'd think there was a Hello Kitty conversion on the harbor. Saw one enormous snook attacking bait and saw his gargantuan mouth fully open above the water. Wow. Even bigger than that monster I landed a few months back.

Besides the weather and calm seas, the highlight of my day was racing across the sandbar on fully plane near Alligator Creek #12 marker and all the way down south inside the bar. Saturday I followed a guy and marked it as I went, so now I know the way to do it on plane. #flatslife

MA is this the same area as the "east wall"? I listened to Fishin Frank's report and he fished an area he called the east wall and looking at the chart looks like it might be the same area.
Just trying to figure out what everything is called.
thanks
Clint

Well I had better luck at Tippy Canoe Bay. I got a 18" trout. I had to fight off the cats and sharks though.
I had 1 bonnet head 18" and a few black tips. The last Black tip was about 4', had him to the boat with a perfect corner mouth hook set then he turned and bit through my leader. Doh!!!!

I had lost 2-3 others biting though the leaders as I did not have any wire with me. Next time for sure.

Oh and one more thing. As I was just turning to head back I saw an older couple and their grandson in a john boat paddling with rowing oars. He bought the boat last week and it is already broke down.
Gave them quite the shock when I said I would tow them back to the dock. The could not get over that I could tow them with my kayak. Hobie Pro-Angler for the win.

Clint, yes that is the East Wall, East side Keys, same area. They say it is some of the best Redfishing here but I'm still exploring it to find them. Beautiful spots though.

Ogre, great story.

The 33ft Maxum cruiser left to it's new owners in Cape Coral this morning. Bittersweet.

To overcome the sadness, I wasted no time looking for the next one!! Found a 2000 Wellcraft 210 Fisherman CC with 200 hp Johnson Ocean Pro. Did some research and the price ($9,500) seems like a steal. Anyone familiar with this boat and/or engine? Several sites say the engine is VERY reliable, but thirsty. I know Wellcraft makes a decent vessel. This has good flaring for dry ride. Thoughts?? I'd like to stay under $12k, so a newer boat with 4 stroke EFI is likely out of the question, and those things costs so dang much $$$ to work on anyway...

Hi HH. I can't help you but I would go over to www.thehulltruth.com. and look around. They have a for sale section and the members are pretty nice in answering questions about specific makes and models of both the motor and the boat itself.
I know how you feel about seeing your old boat under a new owner. As some people say best 2 days of my life, well you have heard the rest.
Good luck with finding a new boat.
Just remember what boat stands for. B.reak O.ut A.nother T.housand. Yeah we have all heard this but sometimes it gets expensive and I find as I get older I am not prone to standing on my head trying to fix something that should not have been put there in the first place.

Oh yes, go to that sight often. It's a great resource. I've been a boater my entire life (I'm 35 yrs old and have had owned 13 boats dating back to 10 yrs old), so yes, well aware of the BOAT acronym haha It's an expensive hobby for some, but a lifestyle for me and my family!

I had a hydrasport with a pair of ocean pros, as you heard great reliability but they did drink the fuel.

I had thought I read the buyers of your house bought the boat too. that would have been lousey no boat to use

congrats on the close, HH. Was wondering why she was on the lift over the holiday weekend. Figured a pending sale was the reason. 200 is a lot of horses to serve...but I'm sure you'll enjoy what ever you get. If you need to borrow a compression tester, I have one you can use.
