vacoder is right (my opinion). We looked at 67 houses over 18 months before buying in PGI, and we couldn't be happier with our decision. If by "large" home you mean over 3000sf, it's true your choices will be a little limited, and very limited over 4000 - most houses in PGI are 1900-2300sf.

Default thanks

thanks to everyone.

We have been back down to PG this week and are still struggling with the small sizes of the homes. We are in a large home with a finished basement and 6 car garage. Most homes are really small with 2 car garages and need updating and these are in the low and mid $400s.

We've literally been in every home from $350 to now $500. Gonna be hard to go from 4200sqft to these homes.

Thanks to everyone.

There are a couple Gulf access homes that look quite large right around Port Charlotte Beach Park. They do look like million dollar homes though.

Just my opinion, having looked at a lot of homes, 4000+sf, nicely updated, with Gulf access in PG will be $700K - 1M, and having looked in a few places around the country, that might be the cheapest anyplace on the US coast. Similar properties in the Keys start around $1.4M.
