Plan to spend $80-90/hr for a certified mechanic (same rate as the local shops charge). It's insane. I have used three, and only one I will call back for future work. I will DM you his info.

There's a guy named Stan, who operates Quality Marine. He did work for me twice; not cheap but fairly priced and he did what he said he would. He comes to you. His cell phone number is 941-456-2592. I forget his hourly rate but I think it was a few bucks below the retail shops, as I recall it was $75 an hour for labor. He will charge that rate for everything though...even his time running for parts, so be warned, it's expensive.

That's why I bought a 2 stroke outboard and started learning to do my own preventative maintenance. Good luck and let us know how it turns out for you.

What is your experience? What is your rate? Do you still charge if you can't fix the problem (the correct answer here is NO). What are your marine certifications? Are you licensed & insured?

Something everyone should ask...yet rarely do. A good mechanic is much harder to find than a good doctor.

Thankfully I fix my own stuff.
