Sorry to hear that. It happens a lot. Banks and Mortgage companies down here are notorious for missing the closing dates. Any little issue, and swoosh, the file goes into some abyss and it takes days to resolve something that could take minutes.

On the bright side, I arranged for a sunny week all next week so your travel should be carefree - whimsical if you pare your travel with the right music and road games. :-))

Have a safe trip, and remember to leave really early to get beyond all the beltway traffic - trust me it will shave hours off your trip!!! If you don't leave early - it just gets worse.

So, always be nice! Never write something you'll regret and want to change! Like offering to buy me all the beer I can drink - You never get to retract that one!!

Going to try this again! Bank, title company, and realtor all are confident that closing will take place Thursday, so we'll be leaving as soon as my wife gets off work tomorrow. The trick will be to get past DC before their rush hour starts, which is usually around 3:30 PM. Figure we'll stop in NC or SC for the night, then continue on Wed. If something happens and we delay our start, we won't even try to get around DC between 3:30 to 7:30PM. In that case, it'll be a ride in the dark! Guess I'll be taking a nappy tomorrow before we hit the road.

I hope all goes well! Are you taking 95 to 4 and then over to 75? We are in northern Virginia and that is the route we have taken. Wasn't sure if there is an alternative route that saves time? Good luck and safe travels!

Yes, I'm planning on taking 95 to 4. After that, I'm not sure if I will take 557/17 like BigHouse suggested or take I-75. All depends on if I'll have time to stop at my uncle's in Bradenton to say "Hey".

I just came back the other day from Orlando for a day trip and took 17. Seemed like it took forever but I do believe it was quicker than taking 4 out to 75. From Orlando airport to port charlotte was 2.75 hrs. I think going 75 adds about another hour. Just observe the speed limit! Saw lots or radar traps. Welcome Home!!!!

you should be able to do Orlando-PC in less than 3. I do this route regularly and can get to Rotonda in 2.5

It does add about an hour. The 557/17 route passes through some small towns, but its nice to see some real old Florida towns. They aren't all interstate roads, but there is not a lot of traffic, and they move - speed limit is still 60 on most of the roads, and they are straight, and flat. Its also not as stressful as having people driving 90 on your butt all the time.

MikMal - Drive Safe - Fingers crossed for good traveling weather.
