Thanks for the update! I won't spend much time there then. I appreciate when people give feed-back that can save some $$ when you go through the expense of running out.

Would you mates kindly stay on thread? These great fishing threads belong on the fishing page, not the boat fuel page!
We can't be having our most popular thread go dormant now, can we?

Thanks everyoe for the information. Looks like we will be buying one of those tanks and taking it to the station and filling it up the regular gas. To much trouble to pull the boat out of the water to take it to fill up.

There's nothing wrong with using regular pump fuel in a boat, as long as you use it right away. The problems start when it sits in the tank for extended periods of time and the ethanol attracts moisture (which does not combust very well in an engine), or the ethanol loosens up the gunk inside an older fuel tank, thus clogging the line, filters, carb, or injector(s). All engines post 1980s are made to run on ethanol-blend gasoline.
When I used to run the 30 gallon gas caddy back & forth to the gas station, it was a huge cost savings, but I used the fuel within a week or two and never had any problems. Now, in the heat of the summer, I just don't want the hassle of making 4 trips back & forth to fill the boat. So, I fork over more for the marina fuel dock convenience

I agree, I do it all the time. Even letting it sit for a month is no problem. People (even mechanics) blame every single problem on ethanol...NEWS FLASH: Boats always had many fuel problems long before ethanol came out!

Everyone uses fuel stabilizer right? Most of the fuel problems come from not using the boat often enough if fuel sits especially ethanol mixed, it starts to de-stabilize and deposits and the gummy stuff appears. Marine fuel stabilizer helps keep it gasoline longer.

I don't use it. I use Rec 90. My last 50 gallons stayed in the tank for 4 months. No problem so far. I always think I'm going to use it faster than I do, so I don't buy the additives. But still, no problems.
