I've had excellent results with Bonito. I'm using mullet now as I cast net my own and save $2 per fish in the trap.

Another tease! This is the second time I've seen someone rave about crabs and tomato sauce (I'm guessing since it's with spaghetti that it's in a sauce??). But, NO RECIPE!

I think it was Capt. George who spoke highly about crabs and sauce too. Unfortunately, he has been banned from city-data, so I guess he won't be posting his recipe (he does, however, say "hi" and misses posting with everyone here). I'm sure he'll be happy to share his recipe next time I talk with him. Would you mind, Trbl39, sharing you recipe so we can all join in with the "delectable delight"? The only thing I'm used to is steamed cabs and I would love to branch out and try them other ways.

BTY, I know it's a week or so early, but Happy Birthday!!

Capt George disclosed the secret recipe to me. Take a bunch of crabs, crack the claws, simmer in a simple marinara sauce for a couple of hours. Serve on your choice of pasta. Haven't tried it yet; if you screw it up, you can't claim it was because it was too complicated:-)))

LOL I don't make it, my other half does! I just eat it all up! I believe he takes the live crabs, cooks them, and cleans them. Use lots of old bay and some beer when cooking them. In the meantime, you get your pasta sauce started...fry up some garlic in oil till lightly browned. Then add crushed tomatoes, tomato puree and hunts sauce. Oh also whole plum tomatoes. We also make up meatballs and put them in the sauce, but a lot of people don't, they just throw the crabs in instead. We do both and let the crabs and meatballs marinate in the sauce all day.

Make your pasta, pour the crabs sauce over it, and throw a few crabs on your plate. Don't wear white, pull your hair back and pick and pull apart the crabs. It is the messiest meal you can eat and one of the most delicious. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about it!.

And thanks for the birthday wishes!!!!

Ah! Go get yourself one of those 2 tiered traps. We started out slow but now have 12 in one trap and 2 in another. Just rebaited 3 hours ago. 2 crabbys in the one trap within 2 hours. Medium, not monsters and probably paper shells and light on the meat but crabbies none the less. Paper shells down here are not like the one's in MD. They still have lots of tasty meat! Just easier to clean

Never give up hope!

Yes...banned. He said he mentioned putting up another property for sale on the site (City-Data), not realizing that was a big no-no . Like you, I've always enjoyed reading his posts. He had a lot to contribute to the site.

And thanks, wpc691 and Trbl39, for sharing your recipes. Can't wait to try them out!

That's IT???? No warning, nothing???? SHEESH!! I've seen a lot worse than THAT!! For a while there was a guy on c-d STALKING a few of us, and they never banned him! He actually figured out where our property in PC was from some pictures we have on here, went to the county and found out our real names and our current address in Wisconsin, and sent us nasty messages bragging about it. THEN he drove by our lot in PC, took pictures of our neighborhood, and posted them on here with snide remarks about how our neighborhood was all crappy. That didn't get HIM banned, but a newbie breaking one of the no-no's about listing a property for sale gets kicked off?? WOW! For LIFE? Or just for awhile?

That is some scary stuff! Talk about not having a life! Hopefully things have calmed down and returned to normal. Just hope he's not lurking in the shadows and this post just rekindled his weirdness .

I believe his quote was "forever". I'm glad I was able to meet him beforehand and have his contact info. I can honestly say he was the first friend I made in Port Charlotte .
