We moved to Port Charlotte permanently in May and this was our first summer here. Every one kept telling us how horribly hot it was and the humidity is devistating, well I'll tell you I'm originally from Rhode Island and it gets over 100 degrees in July, August Humidity +90% I did not think this weather was that bad. How would you rate this past summer typical, hot, or mild.

Florida in the summer (April thru September) is Hell on earth. But if you are from RI, you've experienced Hell on earth there.

I agree with you rock creek. I moved here permanently in March of this year from just outside Philly, Pa. I was just saying today that summer was not that bad as far as heat and humidity. I either got used to it real quick or it was just the same as summer in Philly. I actually have had family here for the past week and a half and am disappointed with all these cooler overcast days!

This was our 3rd summer here, and i would say it felt the same as the first two. "Hell on earth" is a bit extreme, but yeah, its warm & muggy. It's florida.

I also just moved here (February) and yes there were some days that were pretty hot here, but never as hot and humid as it was in Baltimore this past summer. I do not work outside, but I did not work outside in Baltimore either, so can't say it was brutal or not.

I do know that I wrote on Facebook more then once (several times)- "Come visit me and cool off" because it was cooler here then it was up there.

Happy that I got to turn my ac off for a few days this week, looking forward to the months of having neither heat nor ac on!!!!

I love being here and the weather is a big part of it.

I just settled on the house this past June and have been coming down once a month, getting it ready for the winter migration. Every time I came down to Port Charlotte, with the exception of two weeks ago, it has been cooler in PC than up in Maryland.

Coming from NH, I winter in Englewood, and summer in NH. We went down for a week or so last August, and I was very surprised how quickly I got used to the heat/humidity.
