Happy Birthday! If it's crabs you want, then it should be crabs that you get.

I love blackened catfish with greens and red beans & rice and frying up some mullet for a fish sandwich. If these are considered crap fish, I can't wait to try what you all consider good fish! Looks like I have a whole new fishing education ahead of me.

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone. We went early to Howards. They didn't have the stone crab, waitress said they never do. BUT it was all you can eat crab legs night so just guess what I had? Hubby had ribs and shrimp he said was to die for. Friendliest people around, service was really good and the food was great. We will be going back.

On the way back I spotted a place that had STONE CRABS on their sign outside. I didn't catch the name of it though. It's in Englewood on 776 a blue and white building on the side heading South. I may have to go there next.

Best fried catfish sandwich I ever had was at the Acme Oyster bar in New Orleans, right off Bourbon in the Quarter. Man I could go for one of those now. Actually, I don't have any catfish, but I do have bourbon so I just gave myself an idea for tonight.......

Never had mullet, but I threw one at Florabama clear from one state to the next!

Default Crabbing

I visited the States page on recreational harvesting of Stone Crab claws. Is it worthwhile activity for those interested in the Port Charlotte area? I have a 21' center console, so getting a few miles out to lay the traps isn't an issue.
Or is this just a moot point since there might not be much of a crab population on the SW coast?
Any tips will be appreciated.
Thanks.
