YAY!!! The Rockford (Illinois) airport has just announced Allegiant Air will start flying from there to Punta Gorda again!! They lost this service a while ago when Direct Air went bankrupt, but they have finally come to an agreement with Allegiant Air to provide this service!! VERY happy about this, as we lost our Air Tran to Sarasota route less than a year ago, and the Ft. Meyers route has been taken over by Southwest Airlines.

We hope to get that from here in Bloomington to Punta Gorda

Great! We've got 2 kids near Rockford, and it gives me another alternative to O'Scare when going to Chicago. Thanks for the info.

Shoot! They don't fly into BWI (Baltimore Washington) . Guess I'll have to keep flying into Ft. Myers or Sarasota.

Yes, as good as any. They will be able to add more flights to Rockford if they see the demand.

They don't even fly to an area where you can connect to BWI or anyplace else. They fly direct to smaller airports that don't have connections to any major air port. If the smaller air port isn't near where you want to go, your out of luck. But a lot of people benefit. I have friends that drive from Pittsburgh to Niagara Falls to use them, they are a few hours away to the closed airport around Baltimore.

Some of their flights do in fact go to mid-size airports that you can connect with other airlines, however, their niche in the market is, and always has been, non-stop discount travel to metropolitan areas that can be accessed by several larger population areas. We love Allegiant. $200 or less for round trip, non stop flights!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

I wouldn't count on them adding more flights, EdVanB. That's not how they usually operate in the small airports they serve. Down and back, two days a week.
