After a long search in the area from Sarasota to Punta Gorda my wife and I bought in North Port about a year ago. Our house is in the Lakeview Plantation community. We love it here. People are friendly, no crime, easy access to everything. There's a nice mix of families, retirees and young professional couples. If you're relocating to retire or if you already have a job in the area you will be very happy. Otherwise the only tip I have is: job first, house second. Good Luck!

Just liked to say North Port has a great art camp for kids. Low priced and excellent instruction - I was amazed at what my son worked on this week - and we come from up North where there is supposedly more "culture" - LOL

I'm glad to hear, Fairfax Mom! My daughter wants to do the art camp for a week... we're so busy for the month of July, but I told her we'd try to arrange it.

Default North Port Areas

I have learned so much from reading these posts. We are having a house built in NP so thanks to all for all the info on the 'neighborhood'. We love southwest FL and can't wait until we are there.

I can understand the work and water. Trust me....we considered waterfront...just did not want the added insurance/tax expense this time. I assume your work is not in Sarasota....since PG is further south than NP
