My opinion - Michaelangelo's at Toledo Price has the best pizza. Their price starts at like $11-12? for pizza but more once you start to add toppings or get one of their specialty pizzas. For "chain" type pizza which is a little less expensive, Marco's pizza on 41 has pretty good pizza. For the cheapest pizza, little ceasar's is on 41 in cocoplum and also at toledo/price behind the walgreen's. They have $5 ready to go pizza. But like with much else, you get what you pay for, their pizza tastes maybe half as good as Michaelangelo's and is also smaller in size. Best pizza i've had in the area is all the way up in Bradenton, Marina's, about 3 miles east on SR 64 (exit 220) in the Publix plaza. I don't make a special trip because it's far but if I happen to be on I-75 passing by there it's worth the stop.

We have lived in Florida for over a decade.

One of the very few real disappointments of Florida has been the pizza.

I guess coming from New Jersey when it came to pizza we were spoiled.

During our time here we have tried every new pizza joint that has opened in the area at least once.

Thought we had found a good place up on 17 about 6 months ago when the first two I brought home had a thin crust and good flavor. But the next 2 came with thick crust and were tough.

Last night we picked up a pizza at Papa John's 2310 Tamiami Trail Punta Gorda in the Punta Gorda Crossing shopping center (Publix, Radio Shack etc). They offer one with extra thin crust. Best we have found yet. Not expensive and we will be trying the different toppings in the future too.

Surprisingly good for a chain type restaurant.

So if a thin crust pizza is what you are looking for, check out this place.

There is an Italian place that has been "opening Soon" for over a year now (about the time this thread started) on Sandhill near Kings Hwy. If "soon" ever arrives and they actually open I'll report back, until then Papa Johns for me.
