Thinking of purchasing a home in the 34288 area of North Port, close to E. Price Blvd. Don't know too much about the area. Would like to know if it is a safe place to live and a good place to buy a home? Is there other areas that I should consider?

I think that is a pretty good area. I would check the sex offender registry before you buy a home.

You want to check with the City of North Port Police for crime statistics. I lived off of Toledo Blade Blvd. and Kenvil for 4 years in zip code 34288 and never had any problems. My step-daughter owns a home near E. Price off of Nordendale which is between Toledo Blade and S. Haberland and has never had any issues either. There are a lot of nice areas in North Port to live.

Thanks all for the info. The house I'm thinking about is off Atwater. This is a big move for me and I don't know anyone down in the area. I visited the PC/PG area in Aug to check out the area. Really liked Punta Gorda, but is too high to buy, for what I would like. North Port appears to give you more for the money. So needless to say, I am starting all over again and not a spring chickie, and change like this scares me. But hubby wants to retire and where hubby goes, I go! LOL

I am going to put in a plug here for a Realtor. We are currently working with TamRE. She knows the area! Wealth of information, like walking encyclopedia. She has helped us A LOT. Highly recommend.

I have to second the above plug. TamRE was our realtor..we met her through this site. She helped a lot and we closed this past March. We live off Price and Toledo Blade. Close to the elementary and my son LOVES Woodland Middle!

Most people looking in NP want to live between Sumter and Toledo. Atwater is a little more remote, that being said, if you don't mind that, homes are a bit less expensive over in that area.
