Don't take my word as Gospel, but I think if you hire someone, they must by law be a Cost Guard licensed Captain. I'm pretty sure there was the thread on here not too long ago about prospective newbes-to-the-area seeing the area by water. You should search for the old thread and see what recommendations were made. And, good luck.

There is a charter company that runs out of fisherman's village that told me they will do this on one of their small boats (22' I believe) that they use for fishing trips. If you are boat savvy you can rent a boat from one of the boat rental companies yourself and pack a lunch then have at it. If you DIY make sure to have a GPS and mark your waypoints back to where you came from and you can get a chart of the harbor from them. In a new area I take a pair of binoculars. Always watch where you came from, this works better if you have 2 people on board. Look for landmarks and please watch the channel markings and for and animals in the water. Good luck

You will have to pick which canals you want to check out. It would take many days to go through them all. Call up Holidaze boat rentals or just about any charter in the area (there are hundreds). Tell them which canals you wish to see and go from there.

Look up boat Captains on the Internet in Charlotte County. There are a few that would take you around.
