This is in Southern Charlotte Co. This is a young one and I could not find another close to it. I should have taken a picture of the trench he is in because it was not much more than a mud puddle.
The last picture he was swimming towards me to check me out.

No, but I understand in the over 55 ones they're hiring gator-aides.

I didn't get a picture but I went to the Walgreens near muscle car city and what do I see in the parking lot about 3 1/2 foot alligator. He was coming from the drainage ditch that runs along Highway 41 crossing the parking lot looked like he was going to an area that's fenced off between muscle car city and Walgreens.

I stop my truck and got out to try to snap a picture of him but when he saw me he turned 180° and headed right back to the ditch and under the culvert between the two pieces of property if you go to Walgreens remember beware of alligators

Gary

I better pay attention. I drove my bike to that Walgreens about 2 weeks ago with flip flops on.

How do you get to them? Do you need to be dumping or can you just drive in?

Guess it's always good to be aware of what's around you, and I'd certainly want to know if there is an alligator or two in my immediate proximity, but from the behavior you describe on the part of the gator you saw, it seems as though he was more scared of you than you were of him.

We're upriver on the Peace River, so we see alligators not too infrequently, usually sunning themselves at low tide on the banks of the wetland/mangrove across our canal, or swimming in the canal, or river. They mind their business and we mind ours. Although I guess I might consider fencing in part of our yard if we had small kids or dogs here.

Here's a not-so great picture we took recently of an alligator swimming in our canal towards his destination. The picture's taken from our back yard.
