I seen a company by the name of King Plastic Corporation in North Port, what can you tell me about it? My husband has 10 years experience in that field. I have worked in the mental health field for over 10 years as a rec therapy assistant and psych attendant what places of work would you recommend?

My father in law worked for King Plastic before he retired a few years ago. Here's their website that tells about the company: King Plastic Corporation | Manufacturer of Polymer Sheets, Slabs and Massive Shapes He seemed to think it was an OK place to work.

You also have PGT in Venice, which is a similar company in terms of a factory: PGT Industries | Custom Windows, Doors and Enclosure Systems They seem to be hiring frequently.

King pays VERY low. Years ago I sent them a resume, as I am a project manager in the plastics manufacturing arena. My company ended up allowing me to move south and work from home, but King called me almost a year later with a quality engineer position available. I stated that would be a step back in my career, but I did inquire about the salary. It was an HOURLY position (for an engineer!?!?!?), paying $13-15/hr!!! And they wanted a 4yr degreed person, with 2-5 yrs experience, for that pay!!!! I had to laugh and tell her no thanks.

I had a customer that applied at Kings Plastic and also said the pay was too low. But you have to keep in mind the pay in general in this area is much lower than up north. You have to compare the total cost of living with taxes, insurance, health benefits, pay, etc. Be sure to take everything into consideration.

Compared to where we came from (West Michigan), wages for my line of work are lower but my wife's went up significantly. Taxes are higher here and of course insurances 5-6x higher due to flood & wind insurances. This is just a comparison of where we originated from. Obviously others' will vary.
