Just wondering, I'm sure some of you fishermen can steer me in the right direction. Is is legal to catch bait fish in the PGI canals, off your dock using a live bait fish trap?

Yes it is, as long as you have a saltwater products recreational license and you don't put the traps in the marked channels. FYI there is a seasonal trap closure scheduled for the Gulf side on July 10-19th. The purpose is to remove derilect/abandoned traps from the waters.

Someone things that's a regular occurrence as mine get stolen in the River on a regular basis. I used to do real well with pinfish. Now I stick to my crab trap behind my house.

Great! Thanks for the answer. I'm not there yet, but planning for the future. I'd love to be able to try and catch bait at my dock before I head out fishing.
