I am looking for a "good" "affordable" dentist in the Port Charlotte area.
I currently go to Village Dental in Venice, but it is too far to travel. Plus, I am not thrilled with them. The office manager (Brian) there is great. But, the rest of the staff are so-so. I have been going there for two years and the last time I was walking down the hall and past by the dentist,he acted like I was invisible. They gave me an estimate for the work I need done..........I think they made a mistake and gave me a copy of the national debt..LOL

It would be nice to find a dentist who would give you a break if you don't have insurance and pay cash.

PS.....do not recommend Coastal Dental. They are nuts with overselling.

I use Kevin Schapley in North Port. He's been fantastic. Try giving him a call. Dentist North Port Charlotte FL | Kevin Schapley, DMD, PA

Paradise Dental on Toledo Blade, between Collingswood and 776. TamRE recommended them to me and I couldn't possibly be happier with the staff, service and pricing. You can even fill out your new patient history forms online, saving time in the lobby. Best part for me, is they don't try to upsell services like whitening and cosmetics.

Yep, Paradise Dental. I have been going to them for 10 years now. They have never tried to upsale. They have always been great to me. My teeth are the best they have ever been. Nice, clean, friendly place. Easy to get in and out of and have their own parking.

I tried Paradise based on recs from this board. I like them. They laid out a clear plan of what needed to be done, and there has been no pressure as to when to get things done, I can do it on my schedule (time and moneywise). They just require you pay for service on the day of service. They take visa and mastercard. And will give you a 5% discount when paying cash for services over $1000. They seem to be right where prices should be as far as dental work goes. None of this stuff is cheap no matter where you go, unless you go to a dental school. I also have no insurance and pay cash. I can give you some of the prices I got:
First visit:
Exam:$90
Full Xrays: $125

First cleaning with evaluation and diagnosis: $160
Perio scaling and root plane per quadrant $225

Fillings: Range from $175 to $311 depending on surface area.

Crowns:
Build up of tooth: $296(not always necessary)
Crown: $1195

Obviously I need a lot of work done, LOL, but unfortunately I had not been to a dentist in about 5 years.

But these prices are what I was paying in PA 5 years ago or more so they seem decent to me.

Those prices look to be about the same as what they charge at the Harborside Dental Associates in Punta Gorda, and I've been happy with their work.

Does anybody have the Florida Blue HMO that includes some dental coverage? Are any of the dentists mentioned part of the Florida Blue network? I had an extraction done in MA last year. cost=$1000; to complete an implant (one tooth) would be $7000. Thank god, not a front tooth. At that time, no insurance at all
