A Realtor is asking $1000 commission from the sale of a lot with an asking price of $5500. The story from the Realtor is that agents will not push lots with less commission.
Does anyone have information as to the validity of this claim and is $1000 now the going rate?
Also, does the seller have the right to choose the Title Company used even if it is not the one used by the Realtor?
Thanks for any help on this.

Commission for lots varies quite significantly and most of it depends on lot size and price. I have seen anywhere from 5% to 10% commission or even a flat fee in Charlotte County. I think $1,000 commission on a $5500 lot is high.

The choice of who selects the title company and pays for title insurance is indicated on the contract and accepted by seller and buyer. So either one could select and pay.

Many thanks, Tam. I also thought it was high.
