I was talking to a guy at lunch today about PC vs. PG and he told me that you can't park a pickup in your driveway in PG. Is that true especially with some of us paying over 40k for a nice one? This will make me rethink where I buy.

i've heard similar stories, and i've read the deed restrictions and it seems a little open on the topic (commercial vehicles clearly are a no no). probably also depends on how pissy your neighbor is.

any house my wife and i are looking at has to have garage high & deep enough for full size gas guzzler, be it a truck or suv.

we've seen plenty of nice trucks parked in driveways, so again, likely depends on the neighborly relations.

Unless there is a business name on the side of the truck I think it's fine. That law would be idiotic. Real men drive trucks!

And if you do own a business, just use magnetic lettering you can take off before getting home.

BSI have had a pickup in my driveway for years. Just not commercial plates or lettering. I think PGI is the same.

Thanks everyone. I just want to get the low down before I write a contract.
I would like to hear from a few agents on here if that is possible.

Here is a link to the City of Punta Gorda parking restrictions and the Special Overlay District of Punta Gorda Isles - City of Punta Gorda Florida

If you have concern, I would call the City of Punta Gorda Code Compliance Office. I know that you cannot have commercial vehicles parked in your driveway.

Sorry but I don't really like the look of a bunch of vehicles parked in the driveway 24/7. It looks, well, kind of trashy. I don't care if your truck is $40,000 or not. I'm not going to complain about neighbors who do it but truly, for the neighborhood, it's not a good look.

I've heard this about some FL deeded communities but never believed it. An unmarked, non commercial, 2014 F150 can't be in my own driveway?? sounds unconstitutional to me. I'd never, ever, ever live in a place like that. I've said it all my life...you own a house, you gotta own a pickup. There's always something to haul away or something to bring home. Having a truck is what makes my yard look so good (even with construction damage in the lower foreground from the skid steer building the poo) and helping my neighbors with my truck makes me a darn good neighbor.

Oh yeah, I keep a boat trailer in the my driveway too...sometimes there's even a boat on it.

Somebody put on some Hank Jr music, will ya?

That's one of the reasons we elected not to buy a house in a deed-restricted community. I prefer not seeing houses built so close together, that's not a good look either, IMO ( tongue in cheek, although we do like our space).
