I am about to move in two weeks and am very excited to move from cold Upstate New York down to Port Charlotte which I heard about from a friend and then saw in person and absolutely loved it. I am sure it will have it's downfalls like anywhere else, but it offers me many things that I have been missing here in New York and am very excited to get down there. I was there earlier this year during the dry season and it was surprising just how dry and beautiful the weather is there at that time.

I am wondering how long the rainy season is, I am guessing there is a good amount of bugs too. I visited Nicaragua last year during the end of the rainy season and most days it wouldn't rain for very long at all and once in awhile it would rain all day long there. I am wondering what month it starts and when it usually ends around.

Rainy season is coming to an end, rain has dropped off a bunch. This year has been unusual in that the usual 2-3 pm shower happened any time in the day. But, still, you just learn to live with them. It is not a cold rain, and the heavy rains pass quickly. Winter, spring is dry, May-Oct has the most rain, with the hurricane season.

We had a couple of rainy days last weekend when a small depression went across. Otherwise, warm and beautiful. Temps generally in the 70s to upper 80s.

Wen you get down here, start with Englewood Beach, then Caspersan, then Sanibel, then...well, you get my drift. Most beaches are within 30 minutes, with a beach on the harbor in Port Charlotte.

We moved here a few months ago and love it. Welcome.

You will get bored in the winter with no snow to shovel and ice to chop.

Correction on this statement, there are no 70's in the summer (except in the middle of the night). Temps are almost always high 80's to mid-90s and humid. We love it, but others don't and stay inside all summer.
Not sure where Restrain was last week in the 70s, but it certainly wasn't in SW FL....

The average temps in the summer are low 90's every day for several months in a row with a chance of rain. Quite often an afternoon quick rain. Sometimes a thunderstorm with heavy winds and blowing rain. Very few days of all day rain. When the weather drops down into the 80's during the day with less humidity, you definitely notice the difference. I say "ahhh" because it is actually feels refreshing. 70's in the winter is heavenly. I moved here 10 years ago from Syracuse, NY. Don't miss that snow, EVER.
