Two stations that I know of in Punta Gorda post per gallon prices on their big signs that are for cash only.

Using a credit card costs more per gallon.

The Mobile at 41 and Burnt Store Rd. today had $2.05 on the big roadside sign and at the pump was a sticker stating credit card purchases cost more. Actual price was $2.109.

The Circle K at 41 and Richmond does the same thing.

At least on the East Coast the roadside signs would state that the listed price was for a cash purchase. But maybe that has changed over there now too.

I consider this practice deceptive. I have been burned a few times.

When I first moved to Ca. I got caught doing the same thing. I haven't noticed it here, yet. But I don't use a lot of gas.

The worst is the big cheap price posted with a tiny sign saying "with car wash" like the mobile station at Veterans and Kings Highway. I get all of my personal fuel at Sam's Club and my work truck fuel at Race Track, since our fleet card isn't accepted at Sam's.

I did the car wash at that mobil last week and it was an awful waste of seven dollars. I just paid $1.84 today at Costco in Sarasota....awesome!

The practice of higher credit card prices was very popular when gas prices were higher several months ago. Now I see it mainly at certain brands like Shell and Gulf, at least in NY. Very disturbing practice when it's not apparent until you pull up to the pump. In NY, stations must post it clearly if it is a cash only price.
