I am taking a hard look at this boat and once again looking for comments both pro and con for this boat. Just going to use it in the Peace and the Harbor for the most part. Its powered by a Yamaha 250 4 stroke. Reaching out for help from all the experts on the board who are so to help a new guy on the water here anyway. Once again glad to be here from Chicago enjoying the weather.

I just looked online at a '07. Looks like it can handle skinny water. Do you have a link to the specific one you're looking at? Hours? History? Or are you just looking for an opinion on a generic Century 2202?

Pros - It is a nice fishing boat. It looks like it will get you around quickly, and you can add tower, if it doesn't already have one to help with site fishing. It looks like you can add a trolling motor, and pole down as will, if it doesn't have one, and maybe a lift plate for the motor - to aid in fishing shallows.

Cons - It is a guys boat. I don't think your wife will enjoy it as much as a deck boat, or something that will sit people in comfort, when traveling to docktail parties, or running out to dinner, seeing the sunsets, hanging out in the harbor to watch the air shows, etc.... The motor seems big, which will get you around, but also suck up gas. It seems that a 150 yummy will be more efficient, and still get you up and out of the water.

Good Point.. a Number of years ago I was looking at Trucks and SUV's and was considering a Fire Engine Red , Dodge 1/2 ton, Single Cab , Short Bed, 4x4 , 360 Hemi with a 4 speed stick..Factory Lift Option. My 5'0" wife mentioned .. So your not sure if you want me to ride in it , but you are sure you never want me driving it? Hummmm Mid Life Crisis / Hot Rod of a sort.. I bought a different truck. We had a Century dealer a few blocks from our house. They sold a lot of them locally and I never heard any complaints about them. I looked at them several times at the dealer and I thought they looked well made. A 22' should be able to handle most local conditions safely. I like Big House's answer, seems to be right on. As I recall Century is a fairly heavy boat and the 250 4 stroke is probably not terrible on fuel if you take it easy on the throttle.

Current 2201 is rated for 225hp. The couple of 2202's I saw listed had 225's. Does this boat have the right motor?

Wpc,

I thought the same thing so I called Century direct and talk to the tech people and they said the 250hp was the biggest engine you could put on this model boat. They said it met the specs for the 2202.
