I hope this is okay to post...

Husband and I will be visiting Florida in early Nov. to check our property in PG. We thought we'd include a short 3-4 day cruise from Miami to the Bahamas and I was hoping someone in this forum would have some suggestions on where to find the best deals and such. We have not taken a cruise before so any advice would be most appreciated.

Thank you!

I've only taken one cruise from the area and that was Tampa. We took a short, five-day cruise to Cozumel; (Day 1) depart in the late afternoon, (Day 2) travel on the open seas, (Day 3) wake up and spend the day in Cozumel, (Day 4) travel back to Tampa, (Day 5) wake up and get booted off the ship, and that was years ago.
I don't know where to find the best deals, but I can give this advise since it's your first cruise: Take full advantage of the entertainment they offer on board. Our cruise offered some things that didn't really excite us, such as an art show and auction (we're not really into art) and a "amateur variety show" of crew members and passengers (which I thought would be hokie). We didn't attend any until the return trip. Ends up that the art was really interesting with a lot of items of sports memorabilia, such a pair of framed Mohammed Ali's autographed gloves. And, the entertainment show was excellent! Lots of talent out there! If we had know the programs put on were so good, we would have taken advantage of the other ones earlier in the cruise as well.

We've done that trip, from Miami to the Bahamas, on Royal Caribbean. IMHO, RC is the BEST cruise line out there. BUT, have you thought about going out of Tampa? Closer to PG than Miami is. Just a suggestion.

There's a gambling cruise out of Lauderdale, goes over to Bimini and the Bahamas. RCI and Caribbean both have cruises to the Bahamas. There is a new cruise runs a 2 night stay, cost $158 a person, or an additional $120 M/L if you stay in a condo on the island.

Just check on line. Enjoy

We live in Miami, but we are considering moving to Punta Gorda when we retire next year. We are also frequent cruisers, and we will continue cruising after we move. We have cruise on several cruise lines, but we have done Royal Caribbean the most. The choices are from Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Port Canaveral. If you have questions, feel free to ask me.

We ended up booking a trip via Costco on Norwegian Cruise Lines. Hoping we like it. Thanks for the info, folks.
