Honestly lobster does not thrill me. I will take stone crab claws any day over lobster.

I was soooo looking forward to eating stone crab claws when I got down here..hadn't he 'em in probably 20 years at least when me and a bud tripped down to Key West..I remember them being so good. so one afternoon we got around to eating out over at Peace river seafood..had the stone claws..$50!!!..and I was sadly disappointed with them..didn't seem to be any better then the snow crab legs from the grocery store back north..oh well.

You must have had bad claws. Stone crab and snow crab are night and day! We order from Joes Stone Crabs and have them delivered overnight up here to NJ and yes they are pricey. Have always loved them!

Another good method for shrimp heads - coat with corn starch with a little s&p, deep fry. Crunchy and delicious.

MUCH less $$ that up in the Chesapeake region. But I'm worried that Fl will be looking at the same issues the Chesapeake is as far as crab numbers go. I've never seen as many crab pots out on the water here as in this year. Plus there is no size limit and the season only closes for two weeks.
