i hope the sellers of the house for sale on candia drive hear of this, because we just canceled our interest in a showing after reading this thread. last thing i want to deal with is a whopper of an assessment, full liability for repairs to property/landscaping, and a headache for likely a year or more of construction disrupting the neighborhood. all in the name of...what, exactly? as a buyer, i could give a rat's arse about underground power cables.

hey bsi association folks with nothing better to do: go find something else to occupy your time. get the locks widened for starters.

Default Larger Equipment Box

The attached pictures are of the larger of the two types of equipment boxes to be installed throughout the BSI neighborhood. The dimensions of the box are 84" x 82" x 56" high.

The FPL agent at the meeting stated there would be 15 to 20 of these boxes installed and also aprox 350 of the smaller boxes or one for every existing transformer on poles now.

This specific box is located at 2472 Aaron St., Port Charlotte, FL., west side of Aaron St. which is behind the AAA office.

And they're worried about unsightly poles...who wants one of them on their property?

Those wont be on your property. That said, many who live along Edgewater had no idea how small their property really was...Those not living on canals will see there will be a lot of "pedestals". Can I assume that those against this initiative are burying their county commissioner(s) and city planners in emails and phone messages?

the big problem with stuff like this is the actual cost will come in 2-3x the initial assessment, so the cost is, de facto, borne almost in perpetuity by existing owners. like i said before, it's a backdoor tax increase. so they say it'll be what, several grand now? i bet by the time all's said and done you're talkin' ~$20k per house. unexpected events, delays, yadda yadda.

i haven't pored thru the bsi deed restrictions but i'd venture whoever crafts this thing, if it passes, will do so as ironclad as possible so as to not be challenged in court.

ruling out bsi for now as a place to look for house, which is too bad. we like it there. saw a couple of places on our last trip. generally, it's more updated in terms of housing stock vs. pgi, and i like the alligator creek area for boating/fishing.
