Our pool man recommended spraying the pool brush with spider and scorpion spray before using it to brush away the webs. So Far... So Good.

I use a small round corner pool brush. It kind of looks like a toilet brush but fits the pole. I only use it for cleaning spiders. If you run around the cage every 3 or 4 days, it seems to keep them at bay.

Like that idea. Will have to look for one for the fit of it. We used our regular pool brush but we covered each end with nylon stockings. We have those in stock already because we use them to apply the chlorine stabilizer through the filter basket. When we're done cleaning spider webs we just pull those nasty stockings off the brush and throw them away. Pool brush all clean still.

We have a brown anole civilization populating the area (our realtor called them skanks ). We don't have any kind of spider problems. I hadn't thought of spiders being a problem until reading this thread.

I'm not sure how long you can keep them captive in a screened-in lanai. They can get through even the smallest opening. Yesterday I was removing an exterior wall sconce and as soon as I pulled it off, an anole jumped out from behind and landed on my chest. At first I had no idea what it was but then I saw it scurry away.

I think that would be "Skinks". If she was talking about skanks there I think I'd be looking for another realtor!

Once I put some plants out there I'm sure the little guys will hang around. For now they travel, through the lanai drains but don't hang for long.

We have a good population of anoles, geckos and tree frogs inside our lanai and love to see them do their thing. Anoles during the day, geckos and tree frogs by night. The spiders handle what the reptiles and amphibians miss. I think the tiny spiders trap flying insects like gnats and noseeums (which are a type of midge I believe). Sounds like a great 'captive' ecosystem. No need for chemicals...
