Is anyone familiar with the Newport Condo complex, which is actually Port Charlotte but with a PG zip code. Seems like a good location, lots of shopping, new Publix etc.

Gateway Property Management Co. in Deep Creek has their contract according to the GM website. I've heard they had some problems over there with their HOA in the past ... not sure about buying in there. A while back they had gone belly up, and they were calling the muddy pond in there 'a lake'. Any input to offer?

thx

It is located very close to I-75 and Kings Highway. You can hear the traffic from some of the units. There are a lot of amenities right on Kings Highway such as Walmart, Ace Hardware, shopping, a few restaurants, Publix, Goodwill, gas stations, and a lot of hotels.

The last time I was there it was not very well cared for. It seemed as though the buildings were in need of maintenance or upkeep. The current photos in the MLS look like they have done some work.

I know they do a lot of activities if you want to get involved. They have a community pool and clubhouse. I would certainly check with Gateway to get a copy of their financial statement and find out what updates have been done or are planned for the community and buildings. I know you do have to apply for a new purchase at Newport Condominium Association through Gateway and they do a background check.

They also do have rules and regulations for care and occupancy, trash removal, vehicle parking, common areas, recreational facilities, club house, pets, soliciting, safety and a complaints procedure.

8 units have been sold in there in the last 180 days. There are 2 for sale in the MLS right now.
