I lived in Miami Dade County (Homestead area) for 40+ years. It was so depressing after Hurricane Andrew. Recovery took years. Much of the middle class moved out of south Dade. I have a feeling, if Irma is strong enough, there will be lots of people move out instead of trying to rebuild. What a mess! Crooked contractors, scam artists, looters, more crime, debris piles everywhere, totally disrupted lives.

I am soooo much happier in Indiana.

Contact your county for a list of shelters that accept dogs. (I have two dachshunds, too.) Good luck!

We lost use of our home when charley hit. This is too much!

We also have 4 cats and there is no way we are separating. Wifey and I asked the cats if they wanted to go anywhere and they just said" we want more food!" to which we complied......heh, sometimes they're like the cat mafia.

Stay safe everyone, don't hesitate to evacuate to shelters. If you leave and nothing happens don't feel embarrassed, tell people you only did it because I said to .
