I certainly do not believe I stuttered (or in the case of typing fat fingered) and yes I did say over $2000. Again, just as with Sparky701 do you have any clue how much material I spec'ed when I checked prices. You have no clue when I checked prices and you certainly have no clue where I checked prices other than Big Box. As I said Sparky 701 has no clue how much material was needed for the job I am speaking of since quite frankly he has no clue what is in the home and what was needed.

As for the price of labor I use highly competent, and when required licensed, trades persons for the work I need to have done. I certainly do obtain multiple estimates but unlike many (possibly you?) I use quote cost as the very last factor in choosing a professional. When I choose a professional I also do not dicker on price (like you??) as you do get what you pay for once you've properly vetted your tradespeople.

Please don't let this post scare you away and do continue to pinch loafs of wisdom. One day they might actually be worth something.
You are most welcome. Read your own post and then you will see it is pure BS ...

The cost of labor was not an element nor was teh cost of chicken soup on the side ... lol

HAHAHA.........I thought this thread and the process would be helpful. I didn't think it was going to start a war !!!!

All I know is, the job was done right, the guy worked his butt off. I have no problem with the price I paid. I even fed him lunch and gave him a $50 tip.......he earned it.

PS..... I was ( still am on a limited basis) in the trades. I used to work on $15 hour. BUT...that was 50 years ago.......LOL

I had my first under-slab leak back in 2013. Back then I said, "next leak or next year, whichever comes first, we're re-plumbing and moving the lines overhead". Well, it's been 6 years and I've got my "next leak", so I guess it's time to re-plumb. I'm in the process of getting estimates now.

Mik, my Dad did it by himself.....cut the main where it enters the house....trenched around the foundation...laid a new PVC...and went straight into the walls for the baths, kit, laundry, etc

...said he didn't want it overhead...another leak would be worse..and any leak from then on he could get to easy

I don't know if that's legal or not...that was a long time ago

1975. Must be either crappy workmanship, inferior materials, aggressive water treatment, or a combination of all. I'm over a decade older than the house and I don't have any leaky pipes yet!
