Kind of interested in this as we both love the feel and location of SGC and I have a home business. However, we're not looking to move for several years yet.

Edit: where did you find your lot? We've looked at lots hoping to find a nicely priced. We're not in a rush to move, but if a nicely priced lot came up, we'd consider it. I've seen small lots in similar areas priced far differently (nearly double) from each other and have wondered why. They are in similar areas with similar frontage.

@dafrogman link didn’t work.... we were down looking at lots last week...almost pulled the trigger till I heard about internet issues...so far I’m seeing speeds from 6 to 24.... avaerage on the lower end...don’t think that will work for us. We are looking at canal lots only...prices were 60 to 80 on average...but learning that doesn’t mean much in build terms...one lot needed 250000 in prep work to make it buildable .....search continues I guess

Currently, the only option in SGC is CenturyLink. Max is 25Mbps DSL. I average somewhere between 10 and 15.
Absolutely horrible. Horrible product, horrible customer service. I pay $50/mo for CL.
I have to pay $99/mo for a Version jetPack hotspot as a backup as I need internet for my business too.
CL seems to disconnect several times per day.
In the evening when I want to stream TV/Movies/Sports; it always disconnects during the stream and I have to reboot the modem.
If I had it to do over again, I don't think I would move to SGC just because of the internet.

Also, lot prices seem to be dropping. You can get many wet lots below $60K.

If you need lightning fast internet, you probably need to be in a more populated area. Does Punta Gorda have higher speeds? That might be a good place to look if you need a water lot.

Edited to add I checked and xfinity services Punta Gorda with speeds up to 150mbps. Good luck.
