There are currently 138 homes in Venice that are priced at 150K or less. Most of these homes are located in the South Venice, Venice Gardens and Venice East neighborhoods.

We had out hearts set on the Charleston area in SC but jobs in that area are extremely limited for me and home prices are much higher than in PG. We have seen some homes online that are short sells that are amazing homes for amazing prices. It is very sad that people have lost their homes to this bad economy and I feel a little guilty even looking at these short sells or foreclosures but there are some amazing prices for some beautiful homes. One thing I didn't realize was that the beach is a half hour drive away and I'm not sure I like that. We would love to be able to take a walk in the evening along the beach with our dog. Then stop for a drink at an outside bar where maybe well behaved animals are allowed. In Charleston at Red's Icehouse you can bring your dog to their outside deck and have drink and eat there. I loved it because it was on Shem Creek and you could watch the shrimp boats and private boats go by. I'm sure there must be something similar in PG area like that. I was thinking Venice might have the nice beach area closer to what we want but the prices might be higher too. How much is it for home insurance in PG ? Again I really appreciate all your information. Have a great day!
Patty
If you're hooked on walking your dog on the beach, the only place that allows that is a dog beach Venice Beach. I've never been there, But I've been to Venice Beach - very nice. The drive is not that long. If you checking out places - also Go to Boca Grande, it is a really cool small town, and is a short walk to the beach. You'll be hooked - the beach is awesome too.

BH, I may take you up on that offer of a beer when we go down to check things out. Can you tell me if your home insurance is more if you have a canal home?? Is that considered more of a flood zone? Also is there a difference in a sailboat canal vs. a powerboat canal? We do not sail, but probably would buy a powerboat. Might learn how to sail after we got down there- sounds like it would be fun. Thanks to you all for being so helpful.

I know what BigHouse is paying for insurance since I researched it for about two weeks, but I'll let him answer that part.

The difference between powerboat and sailboat water is the depth and whether it has bridges or not. For a sailboat you would need deep water and no bridges-this also makes the property more valuable.

I'm sure BigHouse would be up for a beer when you come down. In fact, I'll just sign him up I already signed him up for the use of his boat. I guess I can also sign him up to go have a beer

Sure, I'd love to. Ya gotta promise to join us at one of our City-Data parities when you come down. I think Mr&MrsSunshine are coming down May 6th. I see a big party brewing.

Should we start another sign up sheet??

The job I'm at is temporary, they told me Tuesday I'm there for another month, through mid April. Maybe by May I'll be unemployed again and we can come down.

Sounds good! Larbadoodles are neat looking dogs. I hear they have a great disposition. Hey, that gives me an idea. Maybe we could have one of our meet ups at the dog beach
