We were considering a condo purchase in the Deep Creek area and asked a friend who winters in Punta Gorda who gave it a thumbs down. She said it was not such a nice area. Any comments? Agree? Disagree? Thanks in advance.

Before settling in Punta Gorda, my wife and I looked at a couple of properties in the north half of nearby Harbor Heights. We found it to be very empty and uninviting.
I had reason to go to Deep Creek last week and was expecting the same kind of area. I was very surprised at what I found instead. It's very nice back in there. The homeowner I met had been there a few years and liked it a lot.
There is a member here who I believe used to live there. You might want to look at some of his posts:http://www.city-data.com/forum/membe...ob-355652.html

Or just use the search function. There have been recent posts about deep creek.

When I first moved to the area it seemed that many of the people I met lived in Deep Creek. I can't say that I have ever spoken with anyone that lived in Deep Creek truly disliked living there. I heard some people complain because of the deed restrictions. But if you know what the restrictions are and choose to dis-regard them...
One of the things I've always liked about the way Deep Creek was developed, is that there is a lot of green space. Home sites don't back up to each other, but are separated by some amount of common land.
Deep Creek is a neighborhood of nice well maintained properties. Many of the condos are around the golf course. There is a lot of environmentally sensitive land as you get closer to the Peace River and much of the environmentally sensitive land is scrub habitat, not the most attractive habitat on earth.

I can't understand your friends opinion concerning Deep Creek, you might attempt to qualify your friends opinion by understanding how they came to the conclusion that Deep Creek was not a nice area.
