Yes, I think it can. It can also make you angry if you listen to talk radio or crappy music.

I like it a lot, but I'm a ham radio operator and a longtime listener and DXer, so my interests aren't those of most. I can still have a good time seeing what I can pick up on the AM broadcast band at night.

You mean there is something else on? The OP's link is inadmissible in the USA---we don't have the BBC, and most places, not even the CBC. And the number of people who listen to NPR is too small to have any general effect on the population as a whole.

I agree with you to a point, but I can still find things I like on the FM dial (the AM band is mostly unlistenable). I like the classic rock, classical music, and jazz stations, as well as the aforementioned NPR on occasion.

Radio must be more listenable than the commercial infested stations in San Diego over there. I actually like Absolute Radio.

I listen to FM every evening...NPR station...they have jazz some nights, classical of course and also a program called Echoes, of contemporary music but slow and easy. ...

Some of these stations do broadcast BBC but the news only....still it is nice to hear news of the world from a different vantage point.

When I am drifting off to sleep, classical is on low, with a cutoff time....nice way to end the day.

“'People are the happiest and most energetic when listening to radio. It plays an important emotional role in people’s lives,' said Mark Barber, planning director at the Radio Advertising Bureau which commissioned the research."

Duh! If the Radio Advertising Bureau commissions research you better believe they'll find some positive spin...or you won't hear of the research.

BTW, do you think it's because radio plays music while the tv and internet don't automatically do so?

I love the radio. I listen to oldies on 99.9 FM KOLA, alternative rock on 106.7 FM K-ROQ, L.A. Angels games on 830 AM, traffic updates/news on 1070 AM KNX and Coast to Coast with George Norry on 640 AM KFI every night.

-Cheers.
